A note from Erin & Carl:
We’re delighted to open the doors for our newest embodiment class and would love to invite you to join us if you’re local. And please read even if you can’t attend, there are some great gems in the invitation!
Classes will be held at Vitalize Studio, 3474 S 2300 E #12, Salt Lake City, UT 84109, on Monday evenings, Sept. 11-Dec.4th, from 6:30-9pm. We’re looking forward to including a retreat day on Saturday, October 7th, 1-6pm.
This year’s fall class will be joint-taught by both of us, alternating weeks. Carl will teach one week, then Erin the next, then both of us together the next, and so on.
Feeling your butt, right where you’re sitting in this moment, supported by the ground; feeling your breath throughout your living body right this very moment, we invite you to use your imagination for a moment, dreaming into some of what we’re inspired to work with this fall:
Imagine working with whatever experiences arise in your life and in our greater world as fuel for your embodied, compassionate presence and awakening.
Imagine having a profound sense of reverence for the wisdom in your very own body-mind, and having reliable ways to access it again and again.
Imagine feeling as resourced as a camel in the desert, knowing you have a wealth of nourishment within.
Imagine returning to living at the speed of life.
Imagine delving deeper into what it means to have a present heart, to be a great listener, and to live a mindful life of benefit to your world.
Imagine knowing in your bones what you’re devoted to, and engaging the long and exacting process of bringing your life into alignment with your devotion and your deep heart values. Imagine embodying your best self.
Imagine growing your capacity to experience profound peace and knowing it’s not to be found elsewhere, but right here in this very body, in this very moment, in this very life, as it is.
Imagine deepening your skillfulness in embodied compassion and communication.
Imagine your embodied, grounded, presence, centered in your courageous kind heart, being a beacon in dark times (and light!) for your family, friends, and community, as well as for yourself.
Imagine meeting your worry, pain, sadness, grief, and joy like a caring mother meets her struggling child.
Imagine what it would be like to have embodied, centered, compassionate presence as you are in relationship:
- With your phone or computer
- With your family members
- With the teachers you study with
- With your own body
- With your communities
- With the unique gifts and inspirations that want to come through you
- With the ongoing social and political situations in which we find ourselves
As you know, with practice, we can begin to rewire our neural circuitry to encourage and stabilize the pathways of loving-kindness, connection, grounded presence, and empathy. Intellectual understanding is not enough – it takes the accumulation of embodied practices repeated over time to reorganize our nervous systems, our bodies, our lives, and to begin growing into who we know in our hearts and bones we would be if we could be. Fortunately, it’s never too late to start and we can begin right now. As you know, the practices we work with are powerful and effective in just this way.
We each have innate possibilities and inspiring untapped potentials which we can bring to blossom in order to benefit ourselves and our world. Doing so can be powerful, transformative, challenging, and also fun, hilarious, and humbling. It’s always rewarding. It’s so wonderful to share the journey in a supportive community. We can learn so much from one another. As one of my mentors, Deena Metzger invites, “Grow the relationships that make the impossible possible.”
We will be exploring all of these themes through:
- Movement practices and lessons
- Embodied sitting meditation practice
- Interactive embodied listening and speaking practices
- Powerful questions
- A community circle
- Great poetry
All of this will be explored in the interest of supporting us in coming home: to this body, to this moment, and to the wise inner-knowing we find in our integrated, embodied presence. From that embodied home, let’s revision a beautiful future for our world.
We will work with powerful Feldenkrais movement lessons that transform our neuromuscular habits, our bodies, and thus the infrastructure for our experience of life. Did we mention they’re powerful?!?!
We will work with embodied meditation, which rather than encouraging us to struggle to quiet our minds, grows our capacity to amplify awareness of our embodied presence, supporting us to be present, right here in our lives. It also helps us make the powerful shift of relating to our thinking mind as our servant rather than our master. The power of this shift cannot be overestimated.
We will explore all this in the context of a warm, supportive, and inspiring community, which is one of the greatest gifts in life.
We hope you’ll consider joining us to learn and grow together this fall! We’d be honored and delighted to have you as part of this circle.
Earth, isn’t this what you want? To arise in us, invisible?
Is it not your dream, to enter us so wholly
there’s nothing left outside us to see?
What, if not transformation,
is your deepest purpose? Earth, my love,
I want it too. Believe me,
no more of your springtimes are needed
to win me over—even one flower
is more than enough. Before I was named
I belonged to you. I see no other law
but yours, and know I can trust
the death you will bring.
See, I live. On what?
Childhood and future are equally present.
Sheer abundance of being
floods my heart.
– Rainer Maria Rilke

Tuition for the fall course is $795 and includes Monday evening classes plus the retreat day on October 7th, as well as chocolate and other supportive materials. :) We’re delighted to donate a portion of each registration to The Nature Conservancy. We couldn’t do it without community! Thank you.
By the way, PayPal now offers an easy way to take 6 months to pay. We also have one 1/2 price scholarship spot available. Email us if you’re interested to apply for that spot.
Our Crystal Clear
When you sign up for one of our courses, workshops, or retreats, we think of it like buying a ticket to a concert or event. As such, all of your retreat, workshop, and course payments are non-refundable. We invite you to be clear, to sign up for experiences you really want, and then to show up! We love it when you show up. Magic happens. We also know from experience how easy it is to decide, “Nahhh, I don’t really feel like it now.” Or mismanage your schedule. Or decide you don’t feel like driving.
Just like buying a concert ticket, if that’s what you decide, no problem. But just like with a concert ticket, you don’t get a refund or credit. When we hold a spot for you, it becomes unavailable for others who may want to work with us. This is the kind of tough-love that invites you to be wholehearted about the commitments you make. It also invites you to respect our time and yours and that of other people who might like to sign up for our offerings. Thanks! (And special thanks to Susan Hyatt whose clarity inspired this policy!)
With love and respect,
Erin & Carl
