Greetings from Crestone, Colorado!

After a glorious drive with rainbows, illuminated aspens, more shades of reds and yellows than language can describe – we have arrived in this amazing little town of Crestone for a mediation retreat with one of our teachers, Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche.

We love this town. Take a tiny Colorado mountain town at the base of the massive Sangre de Cristo mountains, add in 3 or 4 Tibetan retreat centers, a couple Zen centers, a few ashrams, a Carmelite monastary, a Johrei healing Center, (each on huge acreage) plus a bunch of therapists, farmers, bodyworkers and yogis living in earthships and other alternative housing and you have Crestone. No other place like it on earth.

One quality that is unmistakable here is the sense of space – the outer spaciousness and the inner spaciousness seem to merge under these big skies surrounded by these huge mountains.

A poem of Rilke’s comes to mind:

Ah, not to be cut off,
not through the slightest partition
shut out from the law of the stars.
The inner — what is it?
if not the intensified sky,
hurled through with birds and deep
with the winds of homecoming.
-Rainer Maria Rilke

May you find the inner sky, and enjoy the winds of homecoming.
