The Great Turning: Introducing Evolutionary Embodiment

A note from Erin:
Hi friends,

I’ve been in a deep learning process in recent months and am feeling soooo excited to share a brand new offering I’ve created just for you.

We’ll work to hone the basic skills of embodied listening, returning to grounded presence, learning through the most insignificant movements of your own holy body, as Hafiz says, and of course, in the basic ongoing practice of bravely befriending. I am heartfully hoping you might feel called to join me!!!

Having been engaged in my own grieving and reorienting process as I really let my heart take in the realities of the climate crisis and the many challenges facing us in the world right now, I feel strongly called to create a learning context and a community gathering place where we can use and deepen our embodiment skills and aim them toward the healing of our world. A context where we can admit how much we care and how much our hearts are aching. A place where we can listen within our own wise body-mind and to each other for the wisdom we need at this time.

I know in my bones that there is guidance in the grief and outrage we feel when we see destruction and disrespect happening all around us.
I know there is wisdom in the particular ways you love the world.
I know that when we come together, we can support each other to step over the bullshit voices we’ve heard all our lives: that we don’t really understand how the world works, that we should just be quiet, that we should not disturb anyone and be nice, that we should just let the people in power do their thing.
No more time for that shit.
Our voices, our choices, and our lives matter.
It’s time to lead with love.
Let’s support each other to meet these times with embodied courage, with our unapologetic knowings, and with our tender hearts, supported by hara, breath, and ground.
Let’s heal ourselves while we commit to the healing of the world.

I know it can be terrifying to take off the blinders and really let our hearts break when we see what is unfolding all around us.

And I know the incredible sense of empowerment and fierce love that blossoms in our togetherness and directly supports our determination to do what we can to support life.

This has never been more important than it is today.

Your voice and heart and unique way of responding has never been more needed.

I want to take your hand and invite you to do this work with me – together – with respect, kindness, and room for it all.

I’m creating a powerful, respectful, and life-giving context where we can come together to engage in potent practices and smart tools to meet our crazy times together with grounded presence, with the support of mother Earth and our own knowing bodies, with our hearts open and our eyes clear. With the buoyant support of a committed community.

I would be so grateful to have you join me in this learning process!!

What Is It?

The Great Turning: An Introduction to Evolutionary Embodiment

A journey into embodied practice, deep ecology, and the joy of reconnecting with self, community, and the natural world.

“The central purpose of the Work that Reconnects is to help people uncover and experience their innate connections with each other and with the systemic, self-healing powers of the web of life, so that they may be enlivened and motivated to play their part in creating a sustainable civilization.”
–Joanna Macy

Our time together will include:

gentle movement practice
embodied listening practice
guided meditation

What do you do when the life rafts are burning and your babies are inside the boat?

Where do you turn when the waters are churning and you’re desperate to learn how to float?

How do you pray when your prayers go unanswered and each crier feels so alone?

What do you do when the life boats are burning?

You turn, turn, turn.

Turn to each other, reach for each other, take one another by the hand.

We’ll form a life raft, a human life raft, and we will swim toward land.

If we make it, we start over.

If we don’t we go down together,

One for all, all forever, turn.

What do you do when the iceberg is looming and the ship isn’t turning away?

How can you be hard when the warning bell’s ringing and the band just continues to play?

Where do you turn when the engines catch fire and the life rafts are starting to burn?

Where do you turn when the engines catch fire and the life rafts are starting to burn?

Turn, turn, turn.

Turn to each other, reach for each other, take one another by the hand.

We’ll form a life raft, a human life raft, and we will swim toward land.

If we make it, we start over.

If we don’t we go down together,

One for all, all forever, turn.

One for all, all forever, turn.

One for all, all forever.

Lyrics are written by the amazing Libby Roderick.

If you’d like to hear her sing this beautiful piece, go here https://libbyroderick.com/ and scroll down till you see “Winter Wheat.” If you click “view track list” you can then choose to listen to this one, “What do you do when the life boats are burning?” Warning – it may cause you to cry your eyes out as it does me. As one wise woman said when asked why she was so happy, she answered, “Because I cry a lot.” So – why not? :)

With all my love for you and for the world,
Erin
